Rafflesia flowers are blooming again in Sukamade, Merubetiri National Park, East Java, Indonesia. Padmosari flowers (Rafflesia zollingeriana Kds) are a typical plant in Meru Betiri National Park. Based on PP No.7 of 1999 concerning Preservation of Plant and Animal Types, it is stated that all types of rafflesia including Rafflesia zollingeriana Kds are protected plants. This time Sukamade Resort, SPTN Region I Sarongan again discovered Padmosari flowers in full bloom in the Parangkulon Block through the Rafflesia Monitoring activity. From these monitoring activities, up to now 35 knobs have been recorded in various conditions. Of this number, 2 knobs have succeeded in blooming perfectly, while 1 knob failed in the blooming process, and 1 knob was attacked by a hedgehog. The discovery this time was different, according to Deni Prabowo, Forest Ecosystem Controller at Meru Betiri National Park, who said that an interesting discovery occurred on the 17th knob which was in full bloom with a diameter of 31cm and a circumference of 96cm. Usually, at the blooming stage, Rafflesia flowers have a diaphragm aperture in the shape of a complete circle in the top center of the flower. However, in the 17th case there was a change where the diaphragm was divided into three parts. Apart from the Parangkulon Block, it was also noted that the distribution of Rafflesia zollingeriana Kds flowers was also in the Krecek Resort Bandealit Block, Teluk Ijo Resort Rajegwesi Block, and Donglo Resort Wonoasri Block. From the results of monitoring activities by Meru Betiri National Park Officers, data was obtained that up to August 2023, there were a total of 210 Rafflesia Knops and 27 Rafflesia flowers blooming in SPTN Regions I Sarongan and II Ambulu.
